About Stefanos

With a 45-year history as an Italian food chef in both New York and New Jersey restaurants, Stefano Sr. opened his own pizzeria 25 years ago in Pompton Plains. Located on Bustling Route 23 South, it is easy to drive right by and this popular eatery set back off the roadway, but once found Stefano’s is a great place for a quick bite for lunch or a relaxing dinner in its formal dining room.

Nine years ago, the Stefano family expanded their restaurant and opened the intimate dining room. Its Tuscan décor and opera music playing in the background create a romantic ambiance for dinner. Tables are also provided outside for al fresco dining.

Restaurant’s robust dinner menu is brimming with Italian-style chicken, veal, seafood and homemade pasta dishes, as well as variety of specialties. Customer favorites include the Chicken Stella Mare stuffed with shrimp, mozzarella and spinach and topped with Marsala wine sauce with mushrooms and shallots. Veal Tucano, which features veal medallions with mushrooms and roasted almonds in a creamy brandy sauce, is a chef specialty. And, the Risotto Di Mare, a combination of clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari and scallops over risotto, is prepared in a specialty pink sauce.

The Stefano family is very pleased with the restaurant’s central location. “We are always happy to greet our regular clientele and also enjoy watching new customers walk in the door.” Says Stefano Sr. “We know that once they taste our fresh homemade pasts they will come back again.”
